I am a WW2 enthusiast and have been fortunate enough to have visited several battlefields and areas of interest. My family was vacationing in Holland and my research for a guide led me to Martin. What a find! Martin was great.

We had the largest group he had attempted (9) but all went extremely well. Martin was so familiar with the area and expertly familiar with the history. He retraced Operation Market Garden and added the crossroads site from Band of Brothers. It is easy to converse with Martin and we quickly became comfortable with him.

We were so impressed that we hired him an additional day to show us the Dutch countryside from a totally non tourist perspective. This was a real treat and the 3 ladies on our trip truly enjoyed as we all did.

We returned to Holland 2 weeks later and again got Martin to give us a full tour of Amsterdam. Martin is a truly gifted guide with great people skills. I give him the highest rating, and look forward to sharing his company again.

Every item under “Why Travel with Tourguidesforyou?” was checked off for us. My uncle was a US Air Force pilot during WWII whose airplane was shot down and he was killed on the 2nd day of Operation Market Garden. It had long been a dream of mine to visit the site (near Burgh-Haamstede on Schouwen Island).

Ending a Rhine River Cruise in Amsterdam gave us the opportunity. We are SO glad we found Martin to plan the tour and be our guide. He was able to research the crash; we drove to the site and he explained in detail what had happened.

We were also able to visit the cemetery where my uncle was initially buried (5 years later his body was returned to the US). Martin also showed us several other sites in the area pertaining to Operation Garden Market. Throughout the drive, I felt we gained a better understanding of OGM and the war in Holland than I ever thought I would.

We can’t thank and recommend Martin highly enough!

Dear Martin,

In my life, I have always enjoyed doing puzzles. Each piece is unique and has an intentional purpose in the completed puzzle. I often think of my life and the completed puzzle made of my memories. Although the good Lord only knows how many pieces of border and inside I have left to place, I know my four corner pieces are complete. My corners are those roles in my life that mean the most to me: daughter, wife, mother & teacher. Most pieces land in a certain quadrant that reflects my role in that moment.

And then I have times in my life where all of my being is affected by one memory. The week I have shared with you is one of those memories & all this puzzle piece being in the center of them all. The footsteps I have taken this week are forever implanted in my soul.

Although I have always carried Anne’s words with me, I now have her journey to carry me too. Because of this trip, I will forever be a better daughter, wife, mother and teacher. I couldn’t have this perfect memory without you! I am forever thankful to you and so very glad you are a piece of my puzzle.

With gratitude,

Martin — If you would have ever asked me if I would walk where the Jews walked in the camps or stand where their fate was decided or stand where Hitler stood I would have said no. Now I have. Thank you for a wonderful week.

Martin,
Thank you for the special trips to Utrecht, Divine Mercy, & JP II. I also appreciate you linking me up with my friends in Poland & Germany.
