Frequently Asked Questions
Here you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions about our private tours and tours throughout Europe.
1. What kind of tours does Tourguidesforyou offer?
Tourguidesforyou offers private tours focusing on the history of World War II, family research, and personal stories. These include tours to Westerbork, Market Garden, and the liberators' trail through Europe. We also visit unique areas in North Holland and South Limburg and organize walking tours in Amsterdam.
2. Are your tours suitable for people who want to research their family history?
Yes! I specialize in tours for people who want to learn more about their family members who were involved in WWII, particularly Canadians, British, and American. We'll help you prepare your research, and I'll literally take you along in their footsteps.
3. Are the tours private or group?
All my tours are private, tailor-made for you (and your family or group). No standard programs, just a personal approach.
4. Where do the tours start?
That depends on the tour. Many of my tours start in Amsterdam, but we can also start at a different location – for example, Arnhem, Maastricht, or elsewhere in the Netherlands and Europe. I will always pick you up from your hotel.
5. How long do the tours last?
This varies per tour. A short city walk takes about 3 hours. Day trips usually last 6 to 8 hours. Multi-day programs are also possible – we're happy to tailor them to your needs.
6. Can I also book a tour for a family member or as a gift?
Yes, that's possible! Contact us for a gift certificate or a personalized tour as a surprise.
7. How much does a tour cost?
This varies per tour; you can find the prices listed here for each tour. Contact us for customized family tours.
8. How can I book a tour?
On this page, you'll find all the tours you can book directly. You can also contact us to schedule an appointment.
9. Do you also provide food and drinks?
We can make arrangements about this. Food and drinks are not included in the price, but we can choose to have lunch somewhere, bring our own sandwiches, or buy something simple along the way.
10. What if I have to cancel?
When booking a tour, you can purchase cancellation insurance for a small fee. This insurance will refund your money within the terms and conditions described. If I have to cancel the tour due to force majeure, the full amount will always be refunded.
11. Can the tours change along the way?
Absolutely, the day is yours, and depending on your wishes, energy levels, the weather, or anything else, we can adjust the tour on the spot. This way, every tour is different.
12. Do you also collaborate with other guides?
Yes, I have worked with local guides with special expertise in the past and will continue to seek collaboration in the future.
13. Do you also provide tours with different themes?
Certainly, upon request, it is possible to organize trips around music, nature, culture, and also throughout Europe. For example, following in the footsteps of Mozart, the stories of Grimm, or the role of rivers.
